Dealer’s fault?

3 months ago I bought a 2005 Honda Rebel from a reputable motorcycle/atv dealer. I took it in because it suddenly started making noise. Now I’ve been quoted a price of $2500 from them to repair the damage to the engine due to the previous owners trying to seal a gasket with silicone and effectively cutting off oil to the majority of the engine. Do I stick it to the dealer or cut my losses?

That’s a tough break, but it isn’t the dealer’s fault and there is no way they could have known about it, it took 3 months for it to go bad.
Tom B is correct that an independant shop will charge much less for the repair. Find one near you and have them check it out.
He is wrong about buying used bikes though. Every bike I have owned was bought used and gave great service.
