Start Starter Lever

Volkswagen Sharan starting problem?
Hello, My Volkswagen Sharan automatic is intermittently failing to start. The auto box needs to be in park or neutral, and the brake needs to be pressed to allow the starter motor to engage. I think the car is somehow ‘thinking’ either it is not in Park or Neutral, or the brake is not being pressed. If I play about with the auto change lever and brake for a few minutes, it generally starts to work eventually.
Can anyone offer any advice…I can not afford to take it to the garage.
Get a new switch for the brake and auto box,
oh and a haynes manual.
just fit a new brake pedal switch and a new auto box lever switch. – don’t know where they are, but haynes will tell you.
