Rod Miles
Do I need a new engine if I have a bent rod? I have a Sunfire 2000 with 88k miles?
Just started knocking and becomes stronger with speed. I drove home very slowly. I did not drive, but now is called the first time to deliver the car I just paid off and now I have no transportation. There few people look and they said it sounded like a bent rod. I only drive a short distance, always have an oil change at maturity. I do not understand how happened. Anyone have any suggestions? Please help.
I do not know what these people are talking. When someone says an engine has a bent rod. Means a bent push rod, not a tilt rod. If a valve is stuck, then make a push rod to bend and you will to have the head redone to fix the problem if you only replace the push rod tipped the next most likely double as well. To check and see if it is bent push rod just pull off the valve covers and see if all levers are still tight when released then it is bent. only can replace the push rod with a new evil and turn the engine over slowly start the car not only has someone hit the key a few times and see if the valve that the push rod is inclined to move freely. You might get lucky and need do nothing more for the engine, but I do not count on it. Chances are necessary work have a head If you do not have a bent pushrod then chances are spun a bearing. and the only way to fix this is to draw crank shaft. and replace the bearing and cause the crankshaft, connecting rods became really do not bend too often breaks. But if you double as Mikey said it would not no noise is very likely that the engine block only if it becomes stronger the longer the motor runs then it's likely either a push rod bent or stuck lifter. If it's just a stuck lifter drain about 1 quart of oil from oil pan dump in a quart of liquid transmission drive the car a couple of days then change the oil and maybe a dump in a quart of oil rislone treatment to help keep clean This should help free the stuck elevator.
