what causes excessive valve clearance on 4 strokes?
assume a valve clearance being 2 tight is caused by the valve stretching or wearing the seat. i understand the intake valves on the crf’s are notorious for becoming tight.

compressed spring?
Yes eventually springs will start to wear and become compressed little by little. Also, the tips of the valves it self ar the guides could start to wear too. It only takes millimeters if not a lot less for things to be off.
