motorcycle trip planning tips

January 25th, 2010 admin No comments

So you want to go on a motorcycle road trip to Sturgis this year. You’ve made all of the travel arrangements for the trip. You have your hotel room reserved. You have the local hot spots during the week all mapped out. Your job knows that you are taking your vacation. Everything is set. Or is it? Did you remember to pack everything?

When planning any motorcycle road trip, it is good to plan what and how you are going to pack your motorcycle. Make a list of supplies you are going to need . Lay out everything and check off the items on your list as you pack them into your motorcycle luggage. Remember to take an extra change of clothing, just in case. Pack your motorcycle rain suit in last, so that you can get to it easily. The last thing you want is to have to search for your gear in the rain.

Take the time to research different motorcycle repair shops along your route. Keep a list of these shops in your wallet, or even better in your Motorcycle Tool Bag. You did remember to pack that right? Take as many tools that you might need for any minor repairs. A phillips and standard screwdriver, a pair of needle nose pliers, some cable ties, a couple of combination wrenches that fit majority of the sizes on your motorcycle, and a repair manual might even be handy too.

Make sure to pack some easy to eat snacks for the road. Granola bars, trail mix, and candy bars are a good idea. You can also purchase MREs, (Meals Ready to Eat), from a local army surplus store, and use these on the road as a quick meal. Use a large gallon sized sealing bag to store your food to keep the mess to a minimum.

A road map is essential. You can buy folding maps for the trip, no matter your destination. Even better, consider buying a navigation system for your motorcycle. These are great, and can be easily adapted to work with your motorcycle. If you don’t want to use a navigation system, consider using a cell phone with broadband internet access, to use free services like Google maps or Mapquest.

Think about the other essentials of the road. Personal toiletries like travel sized tooth brush, tooth paste, shampoo, soap, and deodorant can all be obtained and stored in a small travel bag, easily stored in your motorcycle luggage. Consider even packing a small roll of toilet paper, for when nature calls, and you are in the middle of nowhere. You are going to some remote locations at times right?

When packing your motorcycle luggage, try to keep the weight balanced on each side of the motorcycle. You don’t want to have a bike that wants to lean to one side or the other. Taking a long trip with a lopsided motorcycle will wear you out quickly as you try to fight to keep the motorcycle upright. The best way to do this, is to have someone help you pack the luggage, while you balance the motorcycle. After packing, take your motorcycle out for a short test ride, and make adjustments.

pet carrier on motorcycle tips

January 25th, 2010 admin No comments

When choosing a motorcycle pet carrier, safety and practicality should be your main concerns. Keeping your pet safe is more important than having a fancy or stylish pet carrier. So what type of pet carrier should you choose when taking your cat or dog along for a motorcycle ride? Here are some key features that every motorcycle pet carrier or pet crate should have.

Durable and Protective

Probably the safest motorcycle pet carrier on the market is a pet crate made of hard, durable plastic. Some are even reinforced with lightweight aluminum for added strength. Pet crates made with an aerodynamic shape with these durable materials from top to bottom provide roll-cage like protection if an accident were to occur. Other types of pet carriers such as motorcycle pet bags, chest pouch carriers, and pet carrier tank pads, are not as safe because they expose the dog or cat, driver, and passenger to potential dangers and distractions.

Must-Have Safety Features

A motorcycle dog carrier or cat carrier should have certain safety features for everyone’s protection. Its cage door should be secure at all times with no chance of the door flying open while riding over bumps or on curves. Your pet should not be able to open the door from the inside. The interior of the pet crate should be free of any hazardous protrusions. It should not have screws or other objects protruding outward (on the interior) that could harm the pet during a quick stop or turn.

The bottom of the pet crate should be leak-free and have an absorbent material in the bottom (just in case). Also, be sure the motorcycle pet carrier can be securely mounted to your motorcycle. Some pet carriers come with special mounting made for that particular carrier to maximize safety.

Proper Ventilation

Any motorcycle dog carrier or other type of carrier should have proper ventilation. Be sure an opening is available just large enough for your dog to stick his head out and enjoy the breeze! Some pet crates have removable side rails that enable you to remove and replace them as needed on the trip.

Enough Space for Comfort

Make sure the pet carrier provides adequate space for your pet’s comfort while traveling. Your dog or cat should be able to move freely within the pet crate. They should be able to lie down, stand, and turn around with ease. Many pet crates come in various sizes so you can easily find the perfect fit for your pet.

Other features you might look for include a leash attachment, handles or grips for easy carrying by hand, and versatility. Versatility means the carrier can be easily converted into a scooter dog carrier, a hand-held carrier, or a bicycle pet carrier. This will save you money in the long run.

A motorcycle pet carrier with these mind-easing safety features will likely cost a little more than many other carriers, but you might save your pet’s life by spending just a little more. Pet travel can be fun once you find a motorcycle pet carrier you can trust!

The evolution of off-highway motorcycles, commonly known as cross bikes, is a long and complicated. The first bikes were actually nothing more than change bicycles and gasoline engines attached. These bikes were incredible inventions driven in your day. Unreliable methods but not surprising for the transport of these motorcycles began captivating people across the world. From the cobblestone streets were not quite the norm in time, motorcycles, in general, can be considered outside bikes road from the beginning. Not a single person or company that has been credited with the invention, the dirt bike. Off-road motorcycling is really an evolution of many years, with better tires, better suspension, seats, stronger frames and better control functions are credited to many people who were essentially changing their own Bicycle for a better off-road use. Triumph Motorcycles is a motorcycle design, but built specifically for dirt riding in 1914, although this model is not in Actually the credit of being the first dirt bike.

Motocross Racing seems to have had so far in Europe, most likely, in France with these bikes are top running through the wooded trails or racing to the top of a mountain road for advertising. Many of these breeds are not sprinting, but a career against the clock where riders simply competing against each other on an individual basis. Racing has expanded as did the production of motorcycles include turns and events Background excited and entertained spectators. Incidentally, the word is derived from a motocross and cross-country motorcycle. The race finally moved to a smaller, closed the subject for easy viewing for spectators and better monitoring of the pilots themselves. With World War and the Great Depression, road bikes not have been a notion of priority to people over many years, but interest in the racing world would not go away. Then came along Soichiro Honda in 1946 with his idea of producing cheap transportation for people after the Second World War. Honda became the most prominent name in motorcycles and motorcycle off road, especially, probably because they are the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world. They were joined by other manufacturers over the years could become household names. Suzuki produced its first motorcycle in 1954, 1955 Yamaha, Kawasaki and 1960. Although motorcycles off road still far in the future for the four large, this was the beginning of the assault of a sports car like no other. Dirt Bikes and motorcycles off road races would become one of the most popular motor sports in the world.

After a mixture of two times two-stroke engines with two and four times in different models in recent years, Honda develops, and finally built a two-engine competitive motocross race in 1972. He arrived in the United States in 1973 and is called CR250 Elsinore. He immediately becomes the fastest bike production off-road class and placed in solitary Honda in the top of the stack against motocross. In the 1970s, motocross racing what would eventually motorcycle makers had expected. Dirt bike become a leisure activity not unlike a bicycle detonated his popularity with the general public. The four main Japanese manufacturers will eventually produce a wide range of off road bikes in a variety of class sizes of different races and ages. Dirt bikes children are available for beginners and the principles of dual use motorcycles available on the tires and the suspension of the earth and the characteristics of the street Legal. Other manufacturers have also joined the niche market including dirt bike Maico, KTM and Gas Gas.

To date, motorcycles continue to evolve with improved almost constant in weight reduction, suspension, engine reliability and overall performance. They are used as recreational vehicles on weekends by millions people around the world. The world of motocross racing became more popular than ever, thanks to the dirt bike riding in essence an evolving art form. Of freestyle and horseback riding are exciting trick riders younger each year and manufacturers are responding by producing high quality, cutting-edge motorcycle.

Yamaha YZF

In the ensuing discussion, I compare the appearance of the two bikes.

Yamaha R15

The Yamaha YZF R15 is an amazing looking bike. It is also very common in search of bicycles. No, really. Watch your lines at any angle frontal R1 ish, and seduce you. Since the later, however, seems more or less like any other bike, plus most of the fairing.

The tail light could have been more elegant and I think that bike would have lent more elegant chordal visual clarity. I also believe that, if effective, the rear fender is really difficult future. Other models R6 as the international sport of similar units, but still. If I were riding around Yamaha R15, especially dry, I remove the thing together.

Bajaj Pulsar 220

The trick with the Pulsar 220, however, is that the love of most people to proclaim their rapid eternal gaze, or can not stand it. Moi? I go behind the bike looks and devotion to the razor sharp ridge and the two strips of high light. I'm a little disappointed that Bajaj chosen not to change the design with the Pulsar Bajaj Pulsar 220cc and not give some bright colors or outgoing.

Verdict

Personally, and his style is really what kind of sticky floor, I prefer to be seen riding Pulsar Orange Metallic. Part of the reason of course is that I 6 feet tall, which makes the diminutive Yamaha a bit too small for me.

With the motorcycle gang violence under control again, a value of ITA recalled an ominous warning about a master plan of the motorcycle for consolidation and division of territory among the strongest clubs in order to maximize the illicit proceeds.

The warning was contained in a confidential assessment prepared by New Zealand on the activities of bandits and Highway 61 clubs and an agreement between biker gangs in Australia.

Bandidos chapter president Rodney Monk was gunned down outside a restaurant in East Sydney, on Thursday night, in what appears to have been a conflict clubhouse. Police search former sergeant Banidos arms Russell Oldham in connection with the murder. Monk has been appointed as cocaine "broker" with links to organized drug syndicate.

And the Saturday three members of the Highway 61 gang have been arrested in Adelaide blackmail and beating a local man who owed money for drugs. The men were arrested in Adelaide airport after flying from Sydney, allegedly to further endanger the victim. Two of the bikies were traveling with false papers.

The Acting Detective Superintendent Graham Goodwin said after the arrests that violence has become more common in Bikie gangs.

"We increasingly aware that members of motorcycle gangs and their associates are threatening and extorting members of the community for money and other assets one, "he said.

In the document called a preliminary report on the Bandidos Motor Cycle Club mixed with New Zealand Highway 61 Motor Cycle Club, prepared by the police in New Zealand in 1996, have given details of plans for International biker gangs to slash the number of automobile clubs Outlaw proliferate worldwide.

"The movement [] has begun in the U.S. where most of the initiatives seem to start the engine cycle, and through extensions of empire gang boxes, like the Angels and Outlaws Hella, diffusion in Europe through its affiliate chapters and associated groups, then other countries in the world, "the report said.

"The reasoning behind the activity was to limit and control the amount competition for the dollar's decline in the area of trade and the illicit drug market, and strengthen the financial position of the high society players.

" … When gangs are smaller institutions had to be chartered (continued), or absorbed by takeover, or eliminated altogether, often through extreme violence, [including] the murder by gunfire and bombing.

"In early 1994, following the global trend, there was a meeting in Sydney, Australia from major bands in which it was decided informally that the gangs in this country adopts a position similar to that already established for the rest of [the world of international business] the whole band.

"It would be a maximum of six gangs controlling Australia by 2000. years "

In what was dubbed the  "Australia 2000 servanda," the six gangs that dominate the Hella's Angels Outlaws, Bandits, rebels, Black Lancers and nomads.

The contents of the confidential report was revealed to the SA Parliament's July 2, 1996 amid growing fears of violence in this state linked to motorcycle gangs.

SA Parliament was told that the detailed confidential report as New Zealand bikies had links with gangs in Australia involved in trade and illegal arms sales.

Move from a TT-R 125 Dirt bike for a WR250F?

Well I had the TT-R 125 dirt bike for a while and now I think I'm ready for the greatest … I a Yamaha WR250F. I just want to ride mostly trails and like to go fast. There are no races. I am 16 years old, 180 pounds, strong enough .. Is that a WR250F be too much for me? Or you can suggest something that would fit better? Please stay with Yamaha but because they have a discount on them. Thanks in advance.

Yes it will be a nice bike just be careful with the extra power when you drive in the first place, are not very fast or crazy you will see they are very easy to mount
