Ambassador Restored
Any tips on restoring drumkits?
I have just taken my very old powerbeat drumkit apart and am gonna restore it to hopefully a good sounding / looking kit.. Ive got the looks covered but does anyone have any tips for making the sound better, I plan on putting coated ambassadors on it as the batter head. ??
If you want to upgrade the sound, replace the hoops with die-cast hoops, your rim shots will sound so much better. Use clear ambassador heads on the bottom and tune them the same as the top head. Use sound rings on the top heads to reduce the over ring without over muffling the drum. For the bass drum use Evans or Aquarian muffled heads, they are kinda expensive but well worth it. Install a front bass drum head with a small hole for miking, again tune both heads as close to the same as possible.
